Can I tell you how much I love SLANT Boxes, not only are they fun to receive, but you get to shop!  I love learning about and shopping for others, I think that is my favorite part.

This month I learned all about Angie for Mrs. Olson's Lucky Little Learners.  I had so much fun learning about her and shopping for her.  I saw that she bought an Erin Condren planner so most of the box was washi and stickers to decorate it.  I figured much of my summer was planning and decorating so maybe hers was too. I also made her a personalized clipboard, and then realized after I shipped it I put an e instead of o in her last name, I felt horrible :( I hope she still likes everything anyway!

I was also lucky enough to learn about Kelly from Love to Teach A-Latte!  She shopped for me :) I did really enjoy our emails back and forth talking about the most random things!

Isn't this a great box?  I really enjoyed the card Kelly made for me, it was so sweet.

I love the bell for my bicycle! We talked a lot about me riding my bike, I think it had something to do with the fact that in the beginning of the month I was in a bike crash.  I am good now, was a little banged up, but I was sharing my bike repair stories, and my new helmet and all. She also learned that I love the outdoors, so the rest of the box is themed for a summer picnic.  There are cups, utensils, plates, napkins, the best little picnic blanket, and of course sun glasses!  So before summer is out I will enjoy a picnic and think of Kelly.  After that the blanket will be used in my classroom so the kids can enjoy some picnic time as well!

Thanks to Jameson, from Lessons With Coffee,  for organizing the Slant Box Exchange!

Five For Friday- July 25th

It's Friday, again! Ok, its not Friday, it is Thursday, but I saw that Doodle Bugs started the link up tonight so here I am writing it. I am a teacher, I hardly ever know what day it is during the summer, so we will go with Friday! So here are my 5 random things, I think it was all this week, but once again, who knows.

(One) Many teachers that I follow on Instagram, and in the blogging world go back to school, really soon, like next week.  I have been seeing classrooms go up, and am so excited to start mine.  We don't go back until the end of August, but in the spirit of everyone else I made this All About Me activity!  It is a fun read the room activity, or a scoot for the first few days of school.  There are questions about your students and they fill in the answers, the answer key in the picture isn't numbered, I fixed that before I uploaded it. If you want to read more about it and see the screen shots you can click here to go to it in my TPT store.  It is a dollar off until I start school!

(Two) I am so excited to use these product in my room.  The first one is Reading Genre and Text Type Posters that I found here, on Rachel Lamb's TPT Store. I actually printed, and laminated, them as half sheets.  I am going to have them hanging on a hook as a reference guide by my classroom library.  The next product is ABCs with Character that I found here, on Nicole Swisher's TPT Store.  I can't wait to display these in my classroom!

(Three) I am obsessed with my Erin Condren Life Planner, I never had one before and I am loving it. I set up the back pages today with topics and Post It's so they can be used all the time.  I also added washi tape to the note section so I could find these pages I set up.  I am also loving the Instagram hashtag #teachersobbsesedwithplanners I am getting so many wonderful ideas there.

(Four) My washi tape collection keeps growing, mostly it is because I want to make the planner pretty.  The more I use it the more I love it! I purchased 6 more rolls today.  That doesn't include the haul I got at Office Max the other day, along with all the other stuff in the picture for $60!  Stop by Office Max, the washi is 3 for $6!

(Five) Finally, my TPT store hit 100 followers! I am throwing a sale for 20% off of everything, including 20% off of the reduced price for my All About Me so its a steal!

That's it for this week, enjoy your weekend! Make sure to stop by Doodle Bugs Teaching to see what everyone else is up to.

Monday Made It!

I have another Monday Made It!!! This time it is all about organizing my fonts and clip art so I can remember, and utilize what I have when I go to make items for my class, and for TPT.

I made a handy font guide to help me pick the perfect font! I don't know about you, but I was having trouble seeing the detail of the font on my computer from the drop down menu.  All I did was take the fonts that I have downloaded from TPT and make a half card for each designer.  The fonts are listed on the front and back.  I also have one designer per color so I can find them easier.  I originally got this idea from Jennifer from First Grade Blue Skies, you can see her post about it here.   I am going to punch holes in the top and put them on a ring, but the rings are at school.  I also made 2, one for my school bag so I have it on the go, and the other for next to my home computer.

Over the winter, I made this organizer for my clipart, at first I loved it, but then not so much.  I had a sheet in there for every clipart set, and every piece of clipart had it own spot.  It was great, I could see everything and it worked.  Then life happened, and it was bulky, but its main job was at home so that wasn't too bad.  Also, every time I bought new clipart I had to make a new page and print it.  This became really time consuming, so I ended out with a file on my computer that had all of this clipart that needed to be filed.  Now I was looking all over for clipart again, so it was a fail.

So I made this one! It is only a 1 inch binder, the other was a 2 and a half!  It also has all the backgrounds and borders as well as the clipart.  What I did was take a screen shot of the product picture on TPT and put it in a box on the creators page.  If you can see the bottom right has a Melonheadz page (she has multiple) and there are 12 pictures of sets, instead of individual pictures.  You can see all the clipart in the set so this is really working.  Now when I get a new set I just need to add one picture onto the creator page and print.  I am hoping this will be easier to maintain.  I also had room so I did all my backgrounds and borders, as you can see in the picture on the bottom left I used some Washi to separate the different sections!

So hopefully these 2 Monday Made Its, will help me stay organized, so I can use all of those great items that I have purchased.  If you want to see what others are making this Monday click on the picture below!

Five for Friday- July 11

It's Friday, again! Why is it Friday always seems to come much quicker in the summer?  I am linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for this weeks Five for Friday!

My birthday was last Tuesday, it was uneventful for me thank God! After the ER last year, I wanted safe and calm.   I hung out with friends and family, went to a nice dinner, and ended my birthday giveaway!  The winner of my birthday is Paula Shaw from Paula's Place, stop by if you haven't been there yet.  She is an adorable blogger from Australia, and it has been a pleasure corresponding with her after she won.  And what is a birthday without friends posting lovely pictures of you on Facebook, I am sure she will be just as thrilled to see this in my blog :) Love ya, Janet!

I am so sad I am not in Vegas for the TPT conference, I have already started saving my pennies for next year.  I have been watching everyones posts on Instagram and it looks amazing! I am hoping there will be a way to get access to the content of some of the speakers.
On a side note, one of my sorority sisters posted a picture from the same hotel in Vegas, I posted on it that there is a teachers conference there.  She said, "I know, they are so nice."

I went a couple of weeks ago and got some blood work done for my nutritionalist, well this week I got the results.  Evidently I can't pass all test, well my blood can't anyway :(  She said I was on the edge of being diagnosed with some real bad stuff, and my thyroid has bad stuff already that I didn't know about! So now I have to work extra hard and exercise and stick on this new "diet".  I have to give up gluten (I did this in April, when I started going to her after the ER visit), dairy, soy (unless I see the whole bean), and I can only have 50-75 grams of carbs a day.  I also have to exercise everyday, at least a half hour!  It will be hard to adjust my life, but I don't want the diabetes, cholesterol, and something else I started blanking out because I got scared.  If you want to help me along my journey I can use all the support I can get.  I am using MyFitnessPal, and Fitbit.  The username is sarabeth781, or its under my email, any help is welcome.

Needless to say, the helmet my boyfriend got me for my birthday will be getting plenty of use.  He figured since I crashed a couple of weeks ago and you aren't supposed to use a helmet after an impact, that he would get me a really bright one so cars can see me!  I also go to the gym now, with a trainer, she is helping a lot, boy am I sore.  I went and golfed today, we opted to carry our bags instead of using the cart.  And, I went and picked up pool passes to our local pool.  Summer has many opportunities to exercise and I am going to try to take advantage.  Living in New England many of these options will be gone come fall, so hopefully I can get to the point where I crave exercise before then.

I was going back and forth about doing this scavenger hunt on Blog Hoppin, but they said you can post collages now, so I am all for it.  I was noticing people were getting annoyed with all the posts, and I didn't want to upset my followers, but I think they will be good with collages.  I love this random shot I got at my softball game last night, this is the son of one of my teammates, and he just happened to have an ice cream.  I just have to remember to bring the sign everywhere now and to study that list!
If you haven't heard about the contest yet you can go to Blog Hoppin and get all the information.

Monday Made It- July 7

I am so excited for my first Monday Made It, I have been reading everyones Monday Made Its since I started in this blogging world.  I made 2 items to link up with Tara, from 4th Grade Frolics! Scroll down to the bottom for my Birthday Giveaway!

I have been seeing these teacher toolboxes on Instagram and Pinterest, I thought they were cool but didn't think I needed one.  Well my grade partner Emily (from Munchkins Inc.) had one this year, I loved it in the classroom and decided this summer I was going to make one!

I went to Home Depot and bought a toolbox for $16, plus I asked for a teacher discount, which they don't give, but they gave it to me! I also purchased some spray paint.  I tried to paint it on the newspaper in the driveway.  That was a disaster, the wind blew and I ended out with bits of grass in it and when I cleaned up I noticed I painted the driveway.  So I sanded and tried again, this time I hung it in the garage and it worked so much better!

To make the letters I used my Silhouette Portrait to cut out the letters. I then peeled all of the background, and used painters tape to transfer it to the drawers.  I thought this would be quick and easy, but it took forever! I finally put my name on top to finish it off. I love how it turned out!

I love how this word work center came out.  I saw on Pinterest to use the 2 x1 Legos and to write the letter on the side, to build the words.  When I went to the Lego store to get my Legos I saw these flat pieces.  I picked 2 colors and filled my bucket for $9 I think. A word of caution, they don't have all the colors in the fill the bucket, they had 3 colors of the flats, they said the colors change when the bucket empties.

I put all the tiles on a big blue Lego sheet.  I used the purple for the vowels and I wrote with silver sharpie.  I used the lime green with black sharpie. I also had the gray long pieces for them to build their words on.

I don't care if they want to build their words on the grey Legos like in the first picture or just on the table like the second picture.  I love that they have a choice and I think this will be a very popular word work choice.  I was originally going to let them build multiple words on the big blue plate that I wrote them all on, but they were a pain to get off of the big blue sheet.

I can't wait to go out and make something else to post next week!

Also, there is one day left to my giveaway. I so make sure you enter to win the $50 worth of products!

Today I would like to thank Heather, from The Busy Busy Hive who has donated her August Desk Buddies writing, and a winners choice from her Teachers Pay Teachers store.
