Five for Friday- June 27

It's Friday, and summer vacation, what could be better?  It is hard to keep track of the days during the summer, but when I saw someone else post a Five For Friday I knew I wanted to as well.  So I am linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching, for this weeks Five For Friday.

Last Friday, after I posted my Five For Friday, I went and got a hair cut.  10 plus inches were cut off and donated.  Every once in a while I do this.  Many people asked about it when I posted this picture on Instagram. So I figured I would share with you here.

This is the result of that hair cut, the top picture is of the long hair.  You can't tell how long because of the way it curls, but it was quite long.  I always wear a pony tail so I don't have a better "long" picture. The bottom picture is of it cut short.  Now when she cut it, my only rule was it had to still go in a pony tail.  I am a pony tail type of person, I do not like to style my hair, and I do not like it touching my neck.  I know the answer would be to get a shorter haircut, but that involves styling it.  The picture on the right is me, not to happy, but it shows what I have to do to have a pony tail.  It was cut too short so part of it falls out of the pony tail, hence the headband. But overall I am happy because someone will get my hair and that is a good thing.

Last Saturday, Emily from Munchkins Inc. and I went to see our kids play in the championship game.  My student was the catcher! Yes I am wearing a pirate hat, their team is the Pirates, and it kept my hair up. They won the game and they were so excited that their teachers came to see them play!

When this package came in the mail I was so excited, just looking at it  I could tell who it was from.

I won the contest from Mr. Greg at Smedley's Smorgasboard! I was so excited to receive the personalized Boogie Board.  I can't wait to try it out with my students next year. I think I will have to order more of them! Thank you Mr. Greg!

I ordered myself an early birthday present!  I have been watching on Bloglovin, and Instagram all of you getting your Life Planners.  I just fell in love and had to splurge.

I will be running a give away for my birthday from July 1- July 8, make sure you stop by and enter.  If you want to participate by donating just comment below or send me an email.  I will be putting everything together Monday morning.

Credit Card Fraud sucks... last night after kickboxing I stopped by Taco Bell, and this morning someone is using my credit card in Brooklyn.  I called right away and had my card cancelled, but they used it at a gas station, Starbucks, and a grocery store.  Evidently they cloned my card because I was still holding my card. I am telling you all this because it is important to be aware of your cards.  I have all my card apps on my phone and I have them set up to alert me of transactions.  I get notified every time there is an online charge, a gas stations charge, and if so much money is spent.  All I get is an Apple push notification, some people find them annoying, but it just saved me a lot of aggravation.  I was laying in bed reading some blogs and I see a gas station one show up and I immediately called. I will no longer think they are annoying but think of this incident every time I see one!

On a final not, many of you expressed concern when I fell off my bicycle earlier this week.  I wanted to let you know that everything is all better now, and my bike is out of the shop. Thank you for showing me your support and concerns.

Wordless Wednesday- June 25

I went for a hair cut last week and was told I have enough to donate, so I figured why not. She cut off over 10 inches!  Have you ever donated your hair?

Five For Friday- June 20th

Its been a while since I have had the time for a Five for Friday, but with school being out I had to find the time to share.

(ONE) I was thinking about having a giveaway for my birthday (July 8).  Last year I was in a car accident on my birthday so I spent most of it in the ER.  It messed with a lot of my summer, so this year I want it to be better.  If you would like to help by donating something to the giveaway send me an email or leave a comment (with your email) so I can get in contact with you.  I want to have everything by June 28 so I have time to get it together.  So stay tuned for a birthday giveaway!

(TWO) School was officially done on Tuesday, I went back in yesterday, and plan on going back later today.  Don't get me wrong part of me really loves summer and the freedom, but the rest of me craves routine.  Plus I miss being with the kids all day.  Even when they drive me crazy or there is so much to do I wouldn't trade my job for anything!

(THREE) As soon as school was done my grade partner Emily from Munchkins Inc went to the Scholastic Book fair. I know if you follow my blog you already knew this....but what you didn't know is the book Emily recommended for me.

I have started it and so far it is excellent.  One of the best parts of summer is the extra time to read. What can I say I am a nerd at heart! And it only cost $2.50 at the Scholastic Warehouse Book Sale.

(FOUR) I have already started cleaning and organizing things at home, hopefully this will all be done soon so I can just enjoy summer and relax.  That and work on fun projects for my classroom.

(FIVE) SLANT Boxes- I had so much fun shopping for my SLANT box partner last month I had to sign up again! To read all about my slant box experience click here.  There is a link there to visit 2nd Is Outta This World (who I shopped for- so you can see what I got for her) and a link to Lessons With Coffee so you can sign up for the next one!

Thank you to DoodleBugs Teaching for hosting this linky.  Spot by and see what other have been up to.

Positive Thinking Thursday

Summer vacation officially started yesterday so this picture seemed to fit for positive thinking Thursday!

This picture however shows how I feel.  Every year when  a class leaves I feel sad that they are moving on because I become attached to my children.  But, I try to remember the good times and get excited for the new adventures that I will have with my next class!

To see what other Positive Thinking is happening this Thursday, visit Jennifer at Mrs. Laffin's Laughings and see who else links up! Thank you Jennifer for hosting.

What I'm Loving Wednesday

This morning I am linking up with Covered with Glitter and Glue to share with you What I'm Loving Wednesday.

1. I am officially on Summer Vacation!!!! The last day of school was yesterday, so I am free to sleep in and relax.  Well I tried to sleep in but my body would't let me, maybe tomorrow! I am always sad to see a school year end, but I can't wait to start next year.  I have a summer full of planning and creating ahead....as well as reading and relaxing!

2. As soon as school was done yesterday my grade partner and I headed over to the Scholastic Warehouse book sale.  I am thinking this is a completely normal thing to do, end a school year and go shopping for next year immediately.  I did well, I bought 40 books for $75, you can see part of my selection in the picture.

3. This year we counted down the last 10 days of school by popping a balloon with an activity for each day.  We had a lot of fun with this, we did everything from have cupcakes to practicing math on our desks with shaving cream.  One day we played Bingo with a 5th grade class, another day we brought in stuffed animals to read with.  On the last day of school they all brought in board games.  Our classroom was empty and they sat around all day playing games together, it was a great way to end the year!

4. I will now have time to read this book!  It came last week and I have been waiting until summer vacation to start it.  I also have "fun" books to read, but I am excited about the Daily 5 book.  We started Daily 5 in second grade this year and I loved it, I am hoping to get some new ideas so I can fine tune what we started this year.

5. What I am loving most is I have time for a bike ride today!!! I love having time to ride my bike and be outside.  Between trying to get stuff done for the end of the year and the rain we were having I haven't been riding in a few weeks.  I want to be able to ride more this summer, and exercise in other ways so hopefully I will be a little smaller for my next class ;)

My First SLANT box

I am so excited to be part of the Slant Box Exchange, this was my first one and it was so much fun!  It was great to shop for someone you haven't "met" outside of the blogging world.  I was teamed up with Janine from Faithful in First.  She sent me the lovely items in the picture.  Thank you Janine it is great.  To learn more about Janine and her classroom you can go to faithfulinfirst.blogspot.com

I was lucky enough to shop for a blogger that I already followed.  I created a SLANT box for Hilary from Second Grade is Out of This World. When learning about her I found our we had a lot in common, including our love for Harry Potter and The Big Bang Theory! I had a lot of fun shopping for her and making her personalized items.  I did not take picture because I would be tempted to post them, and they should be hers to share.  If you would like to see what I sent her she should be blogging about it soon. You can see her blog at www.2ndisoutofthisworld.blogspot.com

Thank you to Jameson at Lessons with Coffee for organizing this exchange.  It is a great way to get to know other bloggers on a new level! To get involved go to http://lessonswithcoffee.blogspot.com and hit the SLANT box tab.

Currently- June

I can't believe it is June 1st already!!!! This year has flown by.  Here is my last Currently of the 2013-2014 school year.

Listening- I am listening to the brook outside my window.  I love when the temperature is just right to have all the windows open.  I love listening to the sounds of nature in my yard.

Loving- Apple finally updated the MacBook Air in May, so I got mine!  I decked it out with a Cookie Monster decal, a blue case, and keys! Check out my Instagram photos if you would like to see.  I have loved using my new computer and I will soon be creating up a storm with it!

Thinking- I can't believe my babies are graduating :( I teach in a Pre-K - 8 school and my very first class is graduating. I taught these kids in Kindergarten (my only Kindergarten class ever) and again when they were in second grade.  This class has a very special place in my heart and I will be sad to see them go on Wednesday :*(  This may be the first time I cry at a graduation at my school.

Wanting- If the weather gets too hot it is unbearable in the classroom.  I have a wall of windows and the sun just beats in.  I hope the weather stays cool enough until we are on summer vacation.  It only has to hold off until June 17th. I would also like a nice day for our field trip on Thursday!

Needing- I need to get working on my slideshow. I want to be able to send it home on the 13th, and it will be here before I know it.

Summer Bucket List
Clean and organize- this is always on my list, it doesn't matter if it is a long weekend or summer vacation, there is always something to clean and organize.  Unfortunately it doesn't always get done!
Work on stuff for school- I will always work on school stuff over the summer, I can never turn it off.
Help mom at the restaurant- even though I don't really like working down at the restaurant I will be there if my mom needs me.  She does so much for me it is the least I can do.
Relax and do something for me- I do play softball over the summer, I also want to ride my bike more and read!
